Committed to quality research

We fight death and disability from meningitis and septicaemia by funding vital scientific research.

  • We currently fund 19 research projects throughout the world
  • Since we were founded in 1989, we have awarded 161 research grants, leading to many advances in the prevention, detection and treatment of meningitis and septicaemia.
  • The total value of our investment in vital scientific research is over £19.1 million (€24.5 million/$30million).

MRF Meningococcus Genome Library

A world first – a truly ground-breaking resource - which will provide the complete genetic blueprint of every meningococcus that was isolated as a cause of meningitis in the UK.

The Genome Library is already responsible for uncovering the rise in MenW meningococcal meningitis in the UK

Discovery Days

Bringing researchers and funders closer together, our Discovery Days present unique behind the scenes visits to our currently funded projects.

Interactive and featuring some of the world's top authorities on meningitis, Discovery Days increase insight and advance understanding for our members and supporters of the research work they are helping to fund.
